NEW DELHI: The central authorities could quickly ban Hurriyat Conference as an “illegal organisation’ underneath the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), citing the alleged involvement of its constituents and leaders in terror financing in Jammu & Kashmir as a main floor.
Sources within the safety businesses informed TOI that the home ministry would take a closing name within the coming days on outlawing all factions of the Hurriyat Conference — together with the reasonable Hurriyat and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, as soon as led by late hardline chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani — underneath Section 3(1) of UAPA. While the J&Ok administration and NIA had earlier submitted inputs and information to the Centre to construct a case for itemizing Hurriyat as an ‘illegal organisation’, a supply stated the house ministry had sought extra inputs and information.
Sources stated the clarifications and extra inputs had now been submitted and a call to ban the Hurriyat Conference, together with all factions and fronts, was anticipated quickly.
